Port Huron, Mich. World of warships free ship slots. – More than 30 years ago, Ken Snyder, Sr. juggled two time- consuming businesses: a trucking business and an Imlay City auction house. One had to take a backseat and though the trucking business prevailed, he and his son, Tim Snyder, have remained active in the auction industry through an unclaimed storage auction that locals have called ’the best kept secret in St. Clair County’.

Now in its 22nd year, the secret is definitely out, since Snyder Auction Service brought nearly 300 registered bidders each day for their annual auction. Two tractor trailers were filled to the brim with entire households and estates that were forfeited for non-payment. Unlike the short term storage facility auctions, where there is a no-touch policy and you have to view the contents from outside the unit, much of the merchandise sold October 15th and 16th was made available for limited inspection.

The goods offered could have easily furnished more than one home, complete with clothing, shoes and reading material. Many of the boxes were labeled with their contents but surprises also exist in any auction and some boxes were only unsealed as they went to the block.

The sheer volume of items - about 30,000 pounds of inventory - dictated a very fast paced sale. Ken Snyder, Sr. welcomed bidders, provided opening remarks and sold several items each day before passing the podium to son, Colonel Tim Snyder.

For your entertainment and recreation, a 42' Samsung LCD flatscreen TV changed hands for $310 and $100 took home the 46' Sony rear video projection television. Two video arcade games were turned on to test out or play: Atari Road Blasters, at $150, fell behind a $210 Midway multi-game unit. One hundred twenty dollars bought hours of entertainment, picking up a complete WII system, two Guitar Heroes and gobs of games. A Pearl Drum set beat a path to $350 after the ringman knocked out a tune. The drums came complete with an extra snare and three sets of sticks. A big Sportcraft turbo air hockey table blew to $120.

Need some furniture to sit on, sleep in or set your soda on? Slot machine noises free downloads. It was all here and most all items appeared to be like new condition. A red upholstered sofa, two chairs and coffee table furnished a new home for $300. Another entire living room suite with beige sofa, chair, ottoman and three tables made $400. One hundred dollars took home a nice brown recliner and $90 bought a pair of beige striped side chairs. An entire bedroom set, $650, included the queen headboard, highboy, dresser, two nightstands and fresh out-of-the-box mattress set.

One section of the sale arena was filled with fine tables from China. They were finished with wood peg construction and had no evident nails or screws. A pair of end-tables, ornately decorated with figures and fruit, finished at $175 each. Also making $175 was a black armoire that was embellished with painted floral and gold motif. Four drum styled chairs came with a matching table for $270. An interesting A-shaped table, selling at $30, had hidden compartments beneath the drawers. $100 took home a bright red table with two drawers. A profusely colored and decorated storage box closed at $30.

Quality Craftsman tools and garage items provided room for sparring on the auction floor. Hammered down at $280 was a tall Craftsman tool cabinet, while a workbench worked its way to $200. A huge ratchet set turned in $75, while $25 bought the drill with extensive bit set.

Collectibles and antiques were few at this sale, so a small collection of early action figures and toys spurred considerable interest. Three Mego action figures of the rock band, KISS, screeched to $85, despite the missing drummer Peter Kriss. Seventy dollars seemed to be the price point for Mego Star Wars figures, as three groupings made that price: Obi Wan Kenobi & Princess Leia, Storm Trooper & Hans Solo, and Luke Skywalker & C3PO. Annie Lee ’Sass in Class’ collectible figurines were sold in two lots: 17 figures in their original boxes made $100, while nine loose figures ended at $40.

A horde of baseball cards were sold by the box. The 1991 and 1992 Topps baseball sets sold together for $22.50. An unopened box of 1990 Fleer baseball cards hit $40 and a huge grouping of early ’90’s cards ran to $30. A box of albums filled with cards from the late 1980’s went home with a fan for $120. The same bidder struck down another big box filled with 1990’s unopened card boxes and many good individual cards encased in plastic protectors. Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays were spied in that lineup, which also went for $120.

Apparel and accessories are not generally big sellers at an auction, but when the estates belong to the literally well-heeled, serious competition drives the price up. There were boxes and wardrobes filled with very high-end clothing, shoes and accessories. Most items were new and clean, having either original price tags or still encased in dry cleaner bags. Five hundred dollars was top money in this department, which bought a large tote filled with Timmy Woods, Chanel, Michael Kors, Fendi and other top name handbags. One large box that shot to $280 was filled with leather and kidskin gloves by Chanel and other designer names; many still had a Jacobson’s price tag attached. Another tote, at $300, was filled with fifty or so silk scarves that sported Chanel, Hermes, Vuitton and similarly pedigreed tags. Wardrobes and boxes were filled with more high-end clothing, suits, cashmere coats and the like, fetching $50 to $210 per lot. Expensive women’s shoes, some unworn in original boxes, were in demand, selling as high as $140 per box full. Even good to middling used women’s shoes were commanding $70 per box. Comparatively, a box of nice men’s shoes was a bargain at $20.

The Snyders held a very fast-paced sale with no reserves and no buyer’s premium. This is a family operation and many of the clerks, cashiers and ringmen were sons, daughters, grandsons, and friends. Some of these relatives dressed up in Halloween garb during the Sunday auction and distributed candy and treat bags to add some holiday fun and show appreciation to the attendees. The ringmen must also be applauded this day, as they didn’t walk anywhere - they had to run to keep pace with the auctioneer and moved the items outside the building for easy customer retrieval.
